1. Documents required to obtain a new gem trading license.
a) When obtaining license in personal name
- Copy of National Identity Card / Passport / Adult Identity Card
- Grama Sewa Certificate to prove residence.
b) For an individual business entity
- Business Registration Certificate
- Copy of The Business Owner’s National Identity Card / Passport / Adult Identity Card
- Rubber stamped application form of the institution with the signature of the owner
c) For a joint venture entity
- Business Registration Certificate
- Copy of National Identity Card / Foreign Passport / Adult Identity Card of all partners
- Rubber stamp of the institution should be placed with the signature of one of the partners on the application form
d) For limited company
- Business Registration Certificate
- Address of the Business and Board of Directors (Form 1) of all directors
- Copy of National Identity Card / Passport / Adult Identity Card
- Rubber stamp of the institute should be placed with the signature of one director on the application form
- If there are any changes in the Board of Directors of the company after the establishment of the limited company, the relevant documents.
- If the documents mentioned in the above 05 are not submitted and the limited company within 18 months of registration, the Board of Directors
- Company Secretary’s assurance that there has been no change in the Board of Directors and/or shareholders.
- Final Annual Return if the company is more than 18 months of registration.
2. Issuance of new licenses for gem trading licenses issued.
- Application form of the authority completed.
- If there is any change in the Board of Directors/ Partners, the documents referred to in 1 in this regard.
3. Issuance of new licenses for gem trading licenses not exceeding one year from the expiry of validity period.
- Application form of the authority completed.
- As per gazette extraordinary No. 2165/2 dated 02.03.2020, late fees should be charged for the number of months that have expired.
- If there is any change in the Board of Directors/ Partners, the documents referred to in 1 in this regard.
4. If the validity period of the gem trading license has expired for one year or more, the license should be issued under a new file by charging a late fee of 30% after obtaining the documents mentioned in no. 01 and an affidavit that no business has been carried out in the past.
5. Issuance of color cards for gem trading licenses.
At the time of issuing color cards, color cards are issued as follows on the request of the applicant for such licenses. Color cards are issued only to the licensee, the owner or owners of the business, and the directors of a company if any.

Fees for obtaining a Gem Trading License
Licenses will be issued based on the gross value of the maximum stock of gems expected to be kept during the year.
This fee includes VAT,SSCL and stamp duty
One day service – Rs. 3000.00 + Tax
For each color card Rs. 2000 + Tax
