Awareness session on ‘AML/CFT Compliance Requirements’ for Gem and Jewellery Dealers in Demuwawatha International Gem Trading Center, Rathnapura

An Awareness Programme on “Anti Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Compliance Requirements”, for Gem and Jewellery Dealers in Demuwawatha International Gem Trading Centre, Rathnapura was successfully conducted on October 11, 2024 in collaboration with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sri Lanka.

The programme mainly covered the topics of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Rules for Designated Non-Finance Businesses and Professions, Reporting Suspicious Transactions, Screening Targeted Financial Sanctions and FATF mutual evaluation process. Further, as part of the programme, the officers of FIU and NGJA conducted several onsite visits to Gem and Jewellery Dealers.

 

Awareness Session on “AML/CFT Compliance Regulations”,  for Gem and Jewellery Dealers in Central Province.

An Awareness Programme on “Anti Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Compliance Requirements”, for Gem and Jewellery Dealers in Central Province was successfully conducted on 24th May 2025 in Kandy in collaboration with the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) Sri Lanka.

The session comprised of the application of Customer Due Diligence (CDD) Rules for Designated Non-Finance Businesses and Professions (DNFBP) sector, Reporting Suspicious Transactions and Introducing a tool for screening Targeted Financial Sanctions (TFS). Further, the participants were specifically informed on the process of upcoming mutual evaluation of Sri Lanka.

During the visit, three onsite examinations and two spot examinations were conducted by the officers of FIU and NGJA.
