Facilitate obtaining TIN and VAT numbers for Gem and Jewellery Exporters

The National Gem and Jewellery Authority with the Department of Inland Revenue has made arrangements to facilitate
Gem and Jewellery Exporters in the registration process for TIN and VAT. If you intend to obtain TIN and VAT numbers for
your Gem and Jewellery Business, please visit the 5th of October to the 7th of October 2022 from 8.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. to the
Special Inquiry Desk set up for this purpose at the National Gem and Jewellery Authority,
No. 12, Macksons Tower, Alfred House Gardens, Colombo 03 .

Required documents to obtain a TIN number

For Companies

01.Original/Colour scanned copy of

– Company Incorporation Certificate (FORM 2A)
– FORM 01 (With last page original true copy seal)
– Article of Association (properly signed by the shareholder)
– Director National Identity Card’s (Both side)/Passport/Driving License – (directors National Identity Cards /Driving Licenses/Passports name should be aligned with company Form 01.)
– FORM 13 (If company address is different -With last page original true copy seal)
– Form 20’S (According to the order of director movements – With last page original true copy seal)

02 Affidavit – If directors National Identity Cards /Driving Licenses/Passports name are not aligned with company Form 01.

03.For the foreign director’s

-Original /Colour scanned copy of the passport which is mentioned in the company Form 01 with a copy of valid current Passport.

04.If the applicant is a parent Company under the shareholders, please provide PARENT COMPANY TIN.

(Application has to be signed by a Director of the Company)

For Partnership

Original/Colour scanned copy of

-Business Registration Certificate
– National Identity Cards /Driving Licenses/passports of the partners

(Application has to be signed by a Partner of the Business)

  • Individual

Original /Colour scanned copy of

-NIC (both side) /Driving license
-Business Registration Certificate (Ownership of the BR should belong to the person who is requesting the TIN)

Address Proof
An address proof is required in case of the permanent address is differed from the Address mentioned in NIC/DL. Please provide;
•Electricity Bill
•Water Bill
•Fixed Line Telephone Connection Bill
•Bank Statement
•Grama Niladhari Certificate
•IF you use spouse address, plc. provide;

marriage certificate
NIC copy of spouse
above mention billing proof come under your spouse name

•IF you use parent address, plc. provide;

your birth certificate
above mention billing proof come under your parent name

(Application has to be signed by the Individual person)

Originals should be submitted for walking customer registrations
Original colour scanned copies should be uploaded for online registrations

Required documents to obtain a Temporary VAT number

1.Dually filled Temporary VAT application. (This application can be downloaded by the IRD system www.ird.gov.lk ,A copy is attached here with)
2.Renewal license from National Gem and Jewellery
3.Export Invoice.
